Pigs in cage

Text:
Toda una vida encerrad@s por una ‘comida’ llena de CRUELDAD.
Translation:
Factory Farms. A lifetime locked up for a meal full of cruelty.
Description:

Black and white photograph of two caged pigs in poor, visibly tight living conditions. Brief messages, written in red, describe factory farms, which have been on the rise in Spain as traditional farming practices have started to disappear, implying dissatisfaction with current Spanish farming practices. Depicting pigs in this sticker, rather than cattle, is symbolic of a greater problem in the country. In 2017, government figures showed that the number of pigs living in farms for slaughter exceeded 50 million, outnumbering the entire Spanish population. In 2020, Spain is the world’s third largest exporter of pork, behind the U.S. and China. As global competition for exports grows, the number has only increased. Factory farms are marked by industrial rather than traditional standards, with higher concentrations of animals and lower production costs. As a result, activists express a strong resistance to factory farms due to environmental concerns and animal maltreatment. “Víctimas del progreso-Crímes de Estado” is not an official organization, but rather a phrase common among Spanish anarchists. The red logo with the A within a circle indicates anarchist ideologies.
